The Name

3rd Reef takes its name from Pipeline on Oahu's North Shore. First Reef breaks on ordinary swells. Second Reef comes alive when conditions improve. But 3rd Reef only breaks when a truly historic swell arrives. Those rare days produce some of the most iconic rides in surfing history.

Steve Beck

Founder & Principal

Steve Beck is an entrepreneur, investor, and advisor with more than 40 years of experience building, scaling, and investing in businesses. He founded CCS, which grew into the world's largest action sports retailer before its acquisition by Foot Locker, and later co-founded C2B Technologies, an early internet search company acquired by Inktomi. As a venture capitalist, Steve was a founding investor and board member of Baidu and has participated in more than 100 venture investments while serving as a partner at Integrity Partners and Managing Partner at Serra Ventures. Today, he draws on decades of entrepreneurial, operating, board, and investment experience to help founders, CEOs, investors, and business owners navigate growth, strategic decisions, acquisitions, and long-term value creation.
